KeNako Academy & Kingswood Golf Estate were the very proud hosts of the first ever SA Ladies Mid Amateur held at Kingswood Golf Estate from 8th – 10th November. This tournament opened the doors for Ladies over 35 to compete in a South African Golf sanctioned tournament. 72 Women from around the country travelled to George to take up the challenge of the 54 holes competition sponsored by SPAR. Two former South African Champions, Gilly Tebbutt and Yvette Du Plessis, were included in the field together with Sandra Winter, a former South African player.
The Opening Ceremony was held at the KeNako Academy on Sunday evening and the gala dinner was held at Kingswood Golf Estate on Monday evening, which included a fashion show hosted by Planet Golf.
At the prize giving function on Wednesday it became clear that the first SA Ladies Mid Amateur tournament was very well received and in future years it will grow into one of the most popular events on the Ladies Golf calendar.
The A Division was won by Yvette Du Plessis on a score of 222 over the 3 days. In second place was KeNako’s Sandra Winter, on a score of 231 and Rose Powell was in third place on 237. Christa Venter won the B Division on 265 with Anna Haering in 2nd place on 274 and Shelley-Rae Colananni in 3rd place on 277.
Well done ladies, not only for coming out to support the event but also for the spirit in which the tournament was played! We look forward to having you all back next year.
