The KeNako SA Junior Masters is to be played for the first time at Kingswood Golf Estate from 8th to 10th March 2011. The event is an official junior ‘Major’ tournament, recognised and sanctioned by the World Junior Golf Series. There are separate boys and girls divisions played at the same time, with the tournament also including a country team competition with the scores of two boys and one girl counting towards the overall team trophy. The tournament is open to players 19 years and younger (born 1992 and later).
KeNako is very proud to announce that the Retief Goosen Charitable Foundation is to be the patron of the KeNako SA Junior Masters. In his statement Retief said “The Retief Goosen Charitable Foundation is honoured to be a supporter of the KeNako SA Junior Masters and I wish to congratulate the KeNako Academy for their vision and support in hosting a major world junior golf tournament in South Africa.”
Players from about 20 countries will be travelling to South Africa to play in the tournament in 2011. Approximately 80 international players are expected to play and the international numbers are expected to grow in future years. The balance of the field will be made up of the top young South African players.
The champions of tomorrow will be competing in the KeNako S.A. Junior Masters. Some of the players can be expected to be chosen to represent their countries when golf is introduced to the Olympics in 2016.
