15 Year old Cameron Moralee’s game has really flourished since he joined the KeNako Academy at the beginning of the 2012 school year. Cameron has the game and the temperament to become a future star of South African golf.
This past weekend Cameron scored 3 under par after rounds of 71 and 70 to win the Kingswood Open with a total of 141 for the 36 holes from a strong field of players. Cameron won the title in a sudden death play-off by birdieing the first play-off hole. The Club Open tournaments include players from both the senior and the junior ranks and this makes Cameron’s win so much more meritorious.
In the recent Kingswood Club Championships, Cameron finished 2nd just a stroke behind the winner with outstanding scores of 73 and 67.
Cameron was also part of the Oubaai league team that won the semi-final play-off against George Golf Club on Saturday by an overwhelming margin of 8 – 1. The Oubaai league team had previously won their section of the league. The team is made up of 5 KeNako students and one local Oubaai resident who is also a junior player. The team has enjoyed an exceptional season and they will soon be playing in the league finals.
Due to various commitments most KeNako students were unable to play in the Kingswood Open on Sunday. Nonetheless, those who did play enjoyed a successful day. Ex-KeNako student Breyten Meyer finished 4th with rounds of 75 and 69 for an even par 144. Mohit Mediratta enjoyed his best ever 36 hole score finishing tied 7th with rounds of 74 and 76 whilst young Franklin Manchest also continued his recent improvement by finishing in 9th place with two rounds of 76. Franklin tied 9th with Jovan Rebula who won the recent Kingswood Club Championships.
