128 Junior golfers will tee off at the Kingswood Golf Estate

128 junior golfers will tee off at the Kingswood Golf Estate on 5th March to compete in the KeNako SA World Juniors.  The third year of the tournament sees a record number of international players travelling to George to take part in the 1st leg of the World Junior Golf Series for 2013.

South Africa’s leading junior golf talents have the opportunity to tee up with the international guests and compete for the prestigious WJGS title.  The tournament counts for World Junior rankings and for the South African Order of Merit.  Included in the field at Kingswood Golf Estate are South Africa’s current top 3 junior boys  – Thriston Lawrence from Mphumalanga, Tristan Strydom playing out of Gauteng North and Jason Froneman of Ekuruhuleni.

  • Winner 2012 SA Boys U19 Matchplay
  • Winning the last 2 National Order of Merit tournaments  – Beachwood (KZN) & at Mowbray, (Western Cape)
  • Number 1 in the country for both the boys U 17 as well as  U19 rankings
  • Currently number 12 in the country in amateur rankings (was outside the top 200 a year ago)

Tristan Strydom:

  • He has been SA Champion in age groups Under-12 / 14 / 19.
  • Won the Junior World Championships  at Palm Beach, Florida.
  •  3rd at US Kids World Championships at Pinehurst, North Carolina.

  • Winner Free State and Northern Cape Open (this month)  – 72 69 68 66
  • Winner Sanlam Glacier tournament in Hermanus – 69 71 (winning a trip to the Orange Bowl in Miami to play in the World Juniors)
  • Represented SA U17 in Italy last year (only team member to make the cut)

In excess of 200 people are expected to travel to George to participate and enjoy the KeNako SA World Juniors and the events surrounding the tournament.
