KeNako SA World Juniors Set for an Exciting Finish

In the Boy’s Division there are 14 players within 4 shots of the lead after round 2 of the KeNako SA World Juniors.  No major changes were expected to the leaderboard after the morning round, when all of the leaders played.  At the end of round 2 the lead is shared by 4 boys, Samuel Schiff of Switzerland; Cameron Davis of Australia; Ben Follet-Smith from Zimbabwe; and South African HP van der Merwe, all at 3 under par.

The best round in the afternoon was played by Stuart Krog from Zimbabwe, who scored a 3 under par 69, a full 13 shots better than his opening round.  15 year old KeNako Academy student Cameron Moralee scored a 70, reaching the turn in 3 over par but Cameron then played a brilliant back 9 holes of 5 under par and move up to a tie for 17th position going into the last round.  Only one other player, Travis Smith from Zimbabwe, managed to shoot under par in the afternoon field with his 71.

It would appear as if last week’s record breaking SA Amateur Champion Thriston Lawrence is too far back to win at 4 over par, but if he is able to shoot a spectacular round perhaps he can make up the 7 strokes on the leaders.

There are players from 7 different countries in the top ten and ties, so the final round promises to be an exciting finish to what has been an excellent week.

There were no changes in the Girl’s Division which seems likely to be won by one of Lara Weinstein and Cara Gorlei from South Africa or last year’s WJGS number one girl ranked player Czilla Lajtai Rózsa from Hungary.

The tee times for the final round have not yet been released but the leaders of both the Boy’s and the Girl’s Divisions will be teeing off between 12h00 and 13h00 local time.
