KeNako Academy Makes the Difference!

Heinrich Bruiners is a personable young man from George with a wonderful talent who made a breakthrough in his career when he won the Vodacom Origins of Golf Sunshine Tour event at the tough Euphoria Golf Estate last week.

Results on paper do not explain the journey that many sportsmen and women endure to accomplish a performance that ultimately makes all of the sacrifices that have been made so worthwhile.  When the result is achieved it is not only a reward for all of their efforts but it is the confirmation that is needed to realise they have the talent that will allow them to compete and succeed at the highest level.

Heinrich is such a story.  He grew up in an environment that gave him access to various sports and as is so often the case he was pretty good at all of them. By all accounts his table tennis skills were something to see, but golf is where his passion lies and as a junior he competed successfully with the likes of Brandon Grace and he represented the Southern Cape as a junior provincial golfer. His continued success saw him being awarded with national colours when he made the South African junior team that played in Japan.

Congratulations to Heinrich Bruiners on winning the Vodacom Origins of Golf Event played at Euphoria Golf Estate.

After completing school Heinrich decided to embark on a career in golf and he started by joining the PGA apprentice program. He became a full member of the PGA in 2009. All was going reasonably well until a very serious motor car accident in which he sustained horrendous injuries and as a result he was unable to play any golf through the year 2011.

Early in 2012 Heinrich approached Roger Wessels for a possible coaching position at KeNako.  While chatting to Heinrich, Roger soon discovered that he continued to harbour a burning desire to play the game professionally on one of the tours. Roger advised Heinrich to spend a few days thinking about what he would really like to do.  He asked Heinrich to consider whether he had the personal discipline and commitment to become a professional tour player. Heinrich came back a few days later to say he wanted to be a tour player and a decision was then made that he would immediately start working with the KeNako team to get him ready to compete.

Jan Fourie, KeNako’s Biokineticist, worked on his physical conditioning while Roger addressed the technical side of his game. From the very first time that Roger has seen Heinrich hitting a golf ball he had been impressed with Heinrich’s ball striking ability.  He has the gift of a natural ball striker (the sound that the ball makes when he hits a long iron is impressive!) so work commenced on sharpening his natural ability and special focus was given to improving Heinrich’s short game skills. Hours and hours were spent discussing the disciplines involved to become a great player.  Constructive practice maximises the benefit of time spent on the range, whilst routines and mental skills were put in place, along with course strategies.

The victory that Heinrich achieved last week is a direct result of Heinrich’s dedication to his career and his commitment to using the advice received at KeNako to unlock his potential. KeNako is confident that this win is the first of many for a very talented and likeable young man.  The hope is that he will be able to go on and emulate many other South African golfers playing on the world tours.

The win means that Heinrich does not have to qualify for a Sunshine Tour event until the end of 2014.  Before last week’s tournament Heinrich had to enter a pre-qualifying tournament just to get into the field!  What a change this win makes to his life!  Roger believes that golf fans can expect to see Heinrich Bruiners in the mix going into the last 9 holes of a tournament for many years to come.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
