Hayden is a talented young golfer who enrolled at KeNako in January 2013. When he joined KeNako Hayden was capable of shooting good rounds through his natural ability but he was lacking in technical expertise, physical conditioning and general course management skills, all of which led to inconsistent performances. These weaknesses were leading to inconsistency in his scoring ability, with his scores varying between rounds around level par and rounds in the eighties. The very nature of the program at KeNako ensured that these issues have been addressed during the course of the year. The gym program that forms an integral part of the total KeNako offering has resulted in Hayden now being a lot fitter and stronger than he was when he joined the program and this has given him the stability required to produce repetitive swings and more consistent shot making ability.

Of course, fitness and strength are merely a piece in the puzzle. There were a number of technical issues that also needed to be addressed in order to make Hayden’s swing more efficient. Hayden must be complimented for the dedicated work he has put in on the range. Implementing changes is never an easy process and changes can only be effectively achieved through belief in the process, focus and patience. It was therefore not surprising to see Hayden’s performances taking a dip in the first half of the year as he worked through the required changes, but he trusted the professionals at KeNako and the process and he never lost confidence in himself or his ability. The result is that he is now reaping the rewards of his patience and efforts. He has now won the last two junior events he has played in, one in the Western Cape and one in the Southern Cape.
At the end of September, whilst home during the school holidays, Hayden won the Western Province JOOM at De Zalze Golf Estate in a play-off after shooting a round of 71. The day after his victory at De Zalze Hayden was back at KeNako in George and yesterday, at the first tournament held in the new school term, Hayden won the Southern Cape JOOM played at Knysna Golf Club with a fabulous score of four under par 68. His score was all the more impressive because strong winds were the order of the day, so scoring was not easy. Hayden won by 5 shots which is a reflection of how difficult the course played on the day.
Congratulations Hayden and keep up the good work![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
