As has become the custom over the past 3 years, KeNako Academy entered teams to compete in the annual Grant Thornton Business Relay in George. This year the academy entered two teams of 6 athletes, with each student having to run a 2km leg.
The venue this year was Freedom Park at the top of York Street from where athletes had to run 1km down York Street, before doing a U-turn and running back to hand the baton over to a team mate. The event was very well organised by the Nedbank Running Club and Grant Thornton (previously PKF Accountants). There was a great buzz of excitement amongst the KeNako on arrival at the venue where a great atmosphere prevailed. This event is very well supported by many businesses and schools from George and the greater Eden District.
For the KeNako students the biggest opposition is always the “other team from KeNako”. They don’t seem to be worry too much about the other schools, but more about beating their house mates! But it is all in good spirit and brings out an amazing effort from the students.
It is great to see KeNako take part in these kinds of events. Not only is it an enjoyable occasion, but it allows our students to go public and show off their excellent attitude and manors. The students did us proud and are wonderful ambassadors for KeNako Academy.
