KeNako student Cameron Moralee is on a roll.  He followed up on his win two weeks ago at Oubaai Golf Resort with a win at George Golf Club yesterday – two excellent but completely different courses, each one with its own set of challenges.

Cameron got off to a very poor start,  He  made a poor double bogey  on the 1st hole, but he did not allow this setback to dent his confidence or determination and he recovered with two good birdies on the 2nd and 6th holes to get his score back to level par.  His round then proved to be a little up and down, with a further three bogeys offset by four birdies.  He finished his round off in style, with a great birdie on the dangerous 18th to post a 71 gross.  The round was anything but consistent but in true Cameron style he thought it was fun.  2013 has been a wonderful year for this talented youngster, a year in which he has learnt how to win even when not playing his best golf – this is a fantastic skill to have.

Notable performances came from Garen Niemand and Phumlani Maluka who finished tied 2nd and 4th respectively.  Garen has been at KeNako Academy for 4 years, having arrived as a young 14 year old at the start of 2010. Garen tried really hard to win his final Southern Cape junior strokeplay event but unfortunately for him he came up a two shots short.  It was always going to be a little tough for him to produce his ‘A’ game as he has devoted
a lot of time to his final year of school studies and as a consequence lost a little focus on his golf.  He is now looking forward to getting his Grade 12 exams out the way and participating in the U19 IPT in Cape Town in December which will be his final junior tournament.  He is going to Stellenbosch University next year where he will be studying for a degree in Management Sciences.

Phumlani’s continued with his excellent recent improvement and similar performances are now expected from this enthusiastic youngster who has worked hard on his technical and course management skills over the past year, his handicap continues to improve and it won’t be long before he challenges for a win.
