Jade Buitendag finishes 4th and Andre Nel 10th
Alan Lones missed the play-off by just a single stroke in the recently completed Border Strokeplay tournament played at East London Golf Club. Alan had rounds of 72, 72 and 75 in some extremely challenging weather conditions, with strong winds and rain affecting scoring. Alan joined the KeNako Academy program as a 15 year old in January 2013 and his golf has shown tremendous improvement over the last 16 months.
Fellow KeNako student and School Leaver Jade Buitendag finished 2 strokes behind Alan in a tie for fourth place with rounds of 75, 73 and 71. Another KeNako School Leaver Andre Nel finished 10th with rounds of 74, 77 and 73, which meant that KeNako students occupied 3 of the top 10 finishing positions. All three of these KeNako students hail from the Eastern Cape Province, which is one of the reasons why they travelled home to play in the event. The Border Strokeplay tournament an official South African Golf Association (SAGA) tournament with open amateur entries from all Provinces in South Africa.
Eric Park, a young Korean who joined the KeNako Academy in January 2013, travelled with Alan to play in the Border Strokeplay and finished in a tie for 29th.
