Andre Nel, a student on the School Leaver Program at KeNako Academy, enjoyed his best tournament result in a major senior Amateur tournament when he finished tied 4th in the Northern Amateur Strokeplay tournament played at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington (East Course) Golf Club. Andre had rounds of 75, 73, 66 and 70 for a 72 hole score of 4 under par 284, an outstanding result and effort. Andre has shown considerable improvement since joining the academy program in January, both physically and with his golf, and it will surely not be long before he breaks through and wins a tournament.
Andre’s School Leaver colleague at KeNako Academy, Jade Buitendag, had rounds of 77, 72, 69, 78 to finish in a tie for 41st. This will be a disappointing result for Jade after his excellent recent victory in the Southern Cape Closed Championships but such results all form part of the learning process! Andre and Jade were the only two KeNako students to enter the Northern Amateur Strokeplay.
