Jade Buitendag, who recently won the Southern Cape Closed, came within a whisker of winning his second tournament within a month when he lost a play-off at The Links Open played on South Africa’s number one ranked course this past Sunday. Jade, who is on the School Leaver program, tied with Breyten at 2 under par 71 and then lost the play-off at the first extra hole when Breyten chipped in for a birdie to win the title.
Breyten was one of the first intake of students at KeNako Academy and still comes through to train at KeNako whenever he can. Congratulations to both Breyten and Jade on their outstanding result. We managed to find an old picture of Breyten from his KeNako Academy days!
The next best finisher from KeNako was Aidan Boon, who finished in a tie for 12th place. The Links Open was played at the same time as the SA High Schools Championships in Bloemfontein which meant that the 4 students who travelled to Bloemfontein to play for Rundle College unfortunately missed this prestigous Southern Cape Open tournament.

Jade Buitendag tied 1st in The Links Open and then lost in a play-off to Breyten Meyer, who was one of KeNako Academy’s founder students from the first intake of just 4 students. Jade’s very good Links Open performance is a continuation of his excellent recent results.

This is a picture from the archives of Breyten Meyer celebrating his birthday whilst still at school and at KeNako Academy. Congratulations to Breyten on his play-off win over current KeNako student Jade Buitendag in The Links Open.
