Julien Sale, a French National who recently joined the KeNako Academy, won his first Southern Cape Junior Order of Merit title when he shot a solid one under par 71 at the Kingswood Golf Course on Sunday. Julien played a solid round of golf and birdied the par 3 18th hole to be the only player to score under par for the day. Roger Wessels, KeNako’s Head Professional, said that the Kingswood course was playing very tough, with hard and fast greens making scoring very difficult.
Julien had scored a career best 66 in the Southern Cape Open the previous week at Mossel Bay before suffering an aggravation to an old knee injury, but he worked together with KeNako’s resident Sports Science professional Jan-Harm Venter on his knee during the week and on Sunday he proved that he was over his injury and in excellent form by winning by 2 shots from KeNako colleague Alan Lones, who improved on his recent form to finish second with a one over par score of 73. Julien’s young 12 year old brother Antoine, who joined the academy program together with his brother, played some good golf to finish runner-up in the Stableford Competition with 37 points.
