Alan Lones and Eric Park were the best finishes of the KeNako students who entered the Southern Cape Pairs played at Mossel Bay Golf Club this past weekend. In the morning Foursomes Alan and Eric were the only pair to break par, shooting a one under par 71, which was an outstanding effort and saw them leading by 2 shots. Almost unbelievably they could then only shoot a leval par 72 in the supposedly easier Betterball round in the afternoon and this saw them dropping back to finish in 3rd place, still an excellent result. They must be one of the very few teams playing in an Open Pairs competition to have scored a lower 18 holes playing foursomes versus the easier betterball format!
Other KeNako results included Jade Buitendag and KeNako old boy Breyten Meyer finishing 5th, with a poor Foursomes round of 78 followed by a 68 in the afternoon Betterball, whilst Cameron Moralee and Nicolas Maritz finished 8th with rounds of 78 (Foursomes) and a two under par 70 in the afternoon Betterball.
Not all KeNako students entered the Southern Cape Pairs and it was good to see those students who did enter mixing up and playing with different friends from within the academy. For some of the players it was a first time experience at a higher level of golf. Well done to all of the boys who played.
