JAMES PENNINGTON WINS SCJOOM AT KNYSNA

James Pennington enjoyed his first win in a while at the SCJOOM tournament played in Knysna on Sunday.  It was a welcome win for James since in recent weeks he has to some extent put his clubs away as he prepares for his final school examinations and this made his victory all the more memorable.  Well done James!

Perfect weather greeted the juniors at the well presented Knysna Golf Course.  This very good old styled course could well be the flattest golf course on the planet (it is also one of the lowest, probably being under sea level in some parts!) but Knysna is a very challenging course with the fairways and greens guarded by trees and numerous water hazards. Scoring reflected the challenge where 71 was the leading score posted by three players. Tristan Malan made an unfortunate double bogey on the last for his 71 but it was a great performance by this youngster who is improving all the time.  Tristan hails from Johannesburg and he is a student at Rundle College.  Playing in the last fourball, Cameron Moralee had a chance to win the tournament on the last hole but missed his 5 metre birdie putt and when he lost in the ensuing play-off this broke Cameron’s recent run of victories.

Down the first they went in the playoff, with Cameron and Tristan finding themselves in some difficulty.  James hit two very solid shots to finish 5 metres from the flag. Cameron and Tristan both ended up making bogeys which left James to two putt for the win which he duly did.

Young Antoine Sale had an excellent result in the U13 Division winning the Stableford Competition with a score of 40 points.  Antoinne scored a 78 off his 10 handicap.  From next month Antonnie will be competing against the older boys so this was his last U13 tournament.

KeNako wishes all students the best of luck in their forthcoming exams![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
