5 KeNako Students in Southern Cape U19 IPT Team

Congratulations to Caylum Boon, Cameron Moralee, Franklin Manchest, Aidan Boon and Jabulane Mabilane who have all made the Southern Cape U19 team to play in the National Inter-Provincial tournament in December.  The other three members of the team are Jovan Rebula, Alex van Wyk and Hans-Jurie Human.

Jovan, Cameron and Franklin were members of last year’s successful team that won the B Section and promotion to the A Section of this important tournament.  Aidan Boon had made the team in 2011 as a young boy but he has not qualified for the last two years so it is good to see him back in the team.  Both Caylum and Jabulane have made the team for the first time.  As it happens Caylum has had an excellent year and played for the Southern Cape U23 team at the U23 IPT earlier this year.  Making the U19 team for the IPT is an aspiration of every young golfer and the team memebrs are all proud and excited to have achieved this goal.

The IPT venue this December is Krugersdorp Golf Club in Gauteng Province which is a great old tree lined golf course which places a demand on tee shots.  The Southern Cape boys are going to have to quickly adapt to the conditions as the ball travels so much further at the Highveld altitude – this may be a lot of fun off the tee but which makes the approach shots more difficult to judge.  KeNako Academy Head Professional Roger Wessels is managing the team and this should be a big advantage to the boys since, besides his expert knowledge, Krugersdorp was Roger’s home course as a young man and when he turned professional.

KeNako is very proud of the achievement of its students – we wish the entire team well and we look forward to seeing the Southern Cape team competing favourably with the best young players in the country.
