Jade Buitendag 5th in Harry Oppenheimer Trophy

Jade Buitendag continued with his excellent form by finishing 5th in the Harry Oppenhiemer Trophy played at Maccauvlei this past week.  Jade had rounds of 70, 73, 69, 70 for a four round total of 6 under par 282.  This is his fifth consecutive top ten finish at a national tournament.  Well played Jade!  Only two KeNako students played in the tournament, school leavers Jade and Andre Nel, and both performed well.  Jade and Andre were tied in 6th place entering the final round at 4 under par and Jade had yet another good round to complete a series of top 10 finishes in the national tournaments that he entered.  Andre didn’t have the best final round shooting a 75 to finish tied 16th at 1 under par 287 after rounds of 73, 71, 68 and 75, but he said that he hit the ball well and he was not at all discouraged.

Both Andre and Jade are returning to KeNako Academy for another year in 2015 and both young men will be playing a fuller schedule of tournaments so they can both be expected to move up the rankings.  Jade is currently just outside of the top 10 SA rankings but he has played less than half the rounds of those ranked above him so big things are expected of him in 2015. Andre too has played only a limited tournament schedule in 2014 but he has improved his ranking to 32 so with a fuller schedule Andre is expected to be move into the top echelons of amateur golf rankings in South Africa.
