Andre Nel won the Southern Cape U23 Championships played at Stilbaai Golf Club with a 9 under par total of 171. The tournament was due to have been played over 54 holes but the second round was curtailed to just 9 holes due to bad weather, so only 45 holes were played. Andre opened with a 2 under par 70 to trail fellow KeNako student Alan Lones by 3 shots after Alan had opened with an excellent 5 under par total of 67, despite the rain and wind. In the second round Andre was 2 under par for his 9 holes and he trailed Alan by 2 shots after 27 holes after Alan scored a 1 under par 35 in round two. Andre then shot an outstanding 67 in the final round, his round including 8 birdies and 3 dropped shots. He beat Alan by 2 shots after Alan scored a one under par 71 in the final round. Franklin Manchest finished third at 3 under par, with Jade Buitendag fourth at 2 under par and Cameron Moralee in fifth place at level par to give KeNako students a clean sweep of the first 5 places and 8 of the top 10 positions. Congratulations to Andre on his continued excellent progress!
