Julien Sale is an 18-year-old French national born in Reunion Island, beaming with natural geniality.
After attending school in Reunion, he decided to focus on his golfing career and he has been at KeNako Academy and Rundle College for the past two years. It was by chance, or one might say fate, that his parents played golf at Kingswood and noticed KeNako Academy. KeNako Academy was the perfect choice, since it is just a four-hour flight over the pristine water back home for him. Although separated in distance, they are a close-knit family and he enjoyed the fact that his younger brother, Antoine Sale, also attended Rundle College and KeNako Academy.
He started playing golf at the tender age of 3. He has fond memories of when he was a toddler with a set of plastic golf clubs in his hands. It was his father who introduced him to the game when he was very young, and at the age of 12 he started playing competitively. When he was 11, he competed in his first tournament at Dunbea Golf Club. Golf was not his main focus at that stage, but his patronage to the game has evolved since then. He is now determined and fired with passion in making it his career. He has won a few tournaments since joining KeNako Academy; at Kingswood, George Golf Club and Plettenberg Bay, but this is only the beginning for this enthusiastic and determined player.
Incorporating a strong mental game, he does not get too stressed or nervous when competing. He tends to live in the moment and enjoy the game at hand. He feels he is quite skilled when it comes to his short game and his ball striking technique. Julien enjoys chipping and therefore loves playing with the wedge because of the unique angle it presents. His current handicap is +1. His valuable time is spent exercising every weekday and diligently working on his chipping and putting skills and practicing on the range at least 4 days during the course of the week. He is filled with sincere appreciation towards the KeNako golf professionals whom he feels have a great understanding of the game and have taught him invaluable skills.
His favourite local golf course is The Links, because of the quality, the layout and the pristine condition it is kept in. Filled with admiration, his top three favourite players are; Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day. He feels all three players are fantastic role models and have great attitudes on the course.
Julien is about to embrace a new chapter in his life. He completed his AS Level at Rundle College and he has been awarded a golf scholarship to attend a US College. We know that with his concentrated attention and dedication to the game he will achieve his goals. We wish you all the best with your future endeavours Julien. We are saddened to see you leave, but looking forward to seeing you succeed in your future career.
