Another student who has endured a tough couple of years and who is again starting to get back into competition is Aidan Boon. In 2014 it was discovered that Aidan had a stress fracture in his back (it happened outside of the golf programme), which meant no golf for several months.
Then towards the end of 2015 Aidan managed to break a bone in the back of his hand, resulting in several more weeks on the sidelines. After his comeback competition in February 2016 Aidan snapped the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in his knee and the outcome was an operation and another 9 months on the sidelines. At the recent SA Strokeplay Aidan scored a 72 in round 2 and at the SA Amateur he had a first round 71 – it is good to see him starting to compete once again. After missing the cut at the SA Amateur, Aidan caddied for his twin brother Caylum and helped him to reach the final.
