George recently experienced extremely strong winds. A major storm hit the Western Cape and specifically Cape Town, but to date George has only been experiencing very strong winds of between 60 and 70 kms per hour.
A tree in the academy’s car park was blown over. Head Coach Roger Wessels took the opportunity to work on how angle of attack and club face presentation affect ball flight in the wind. Shots that would normally travel about 170m were literally ending up between 30m and 40m from the strike… up in the air then backwards and when they landed they rolled back towards the player!! Quite an experience!
