Rundle College Wins 2019 KeNako Schools Golf Festival

Young golfers from several schools across South Africa teed off in the annual KeNako Academy Schools Golf Festival. The first day at Kingswood Golf Course experienced some tough conditions, playing in a five-club wind accompanied with some afternoon showers. The teams enjoyed pleasant weather on the second day, being greeted with clear blue skies at George Golf Club and a misty morning on the third and final day at Mossel Bay Golf Club. The players experienced some good competition from St John’s College, Milnerton High, Paarl Gimnasium, Rundle College and Melkbos Strand.

Congratulations to the Rundle College First Team, who won the 2019 KeNako Schools Golf Festival. Captain Jay Nathwani was proud of his team mates Nicola Gerhardsen, Jaydon Liddell and Mike Saxer who played some good golf to win the event for a 6th consecutive year. The Rundle team beat St John’s College by 10 strokes. Thank you to all the schools who participated in the event. The full album is available on the gallery page.

St John’s College golfer, Kian Rose, played fantastic golf in the 3-day event to win the Individual Medal Division. Kian shot 4 over par 76 on the first day at Kingswood in very tough, windy conditions (76 was joint leader), 2 under par 70 at George Golf Club and a tremendous 7 under par 65 on the last day at Mossel Bay Golf Club. Congratulations on winning the Individual Medal Division Kian!

The Rundle College 3rd Team also played good golf and walked away as the winners of the Stableford Division. Kira Kappeler captained the all-girls team with team members Maeva Fardel, Chloé Malgas-Kelpin and Sylken November. Well played girls!

Rundle College pupil Maeva Fardel won the Individual Stableford Division! The competition was tough but she managed to beat team mate Kira Kappeler, who also played well, by 1 point. Congratulations on making great progress in your game Maeva.
